Get ready for a special Maui celebration…
As you arrive at the beautiful grounds of the Maui Nui Luau at Black Rock, you’ll be greeted with a warm aloha, and receive one of their beautiful specialty leis made with fresh flowers or wood carved necklaces (when fresh leis are not available). After a quick photo taken by their professional photographer, your hostess will take you to your pre-reserved seats at one of their premium tables. You can start enjoying your favorite beverages too, as your waiters will be coming by to take your drink orders. As you look around you’ll notice the short distance to the beach and the awesome views to the famous Kaanapali Black Rock, the beach and the islands of Lanai and Molokai on the background.
Walk around, take some pictures and enjoy the views…
Don’t get too comfortable just yet, as you’ll have time to walk around the grounds, visit with local artisans, and take pictures by the beach and the famous Black Rock. You will also have the opportunity to witness the traditional Imu Ceremony, which is the unveiling of the Kalua Pua’a. To top it off, you’ll get a unique chance to watch the lighting of the torches by a Hawaiian warrior who will also run up to the top of the Black Rock at sunset before diving into the ocean. So, be sure to bring your camera!
It’s Kaukau time!
As we say here in Hawaii, it’s “Kaukau time”, or it’s time to eat! The Sheraton Maui is hosted by the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, who has some of the best chefs on the island. That means you will find, at their traditional Hawaiian buffet table, an array of scrumptious salads, hot and cold entrees and delicious desserts. The bar will be open throughout your evening, so don’t be shy… Go back as much as you want to the bar and the buffet!!
Here comes the show…
The Maui Nui Luau will be telling you the story of Maui, a Hawaiian demigod, responsible for how our beautiful island received its name, and legend says, lifted the heavens from the earth so men could walk tall. He slowed the sun’s path and discovered the secret of fire. Get ready to also watch a fun and exciting Polynesian revue, featuring some of the best dancers, live musicians and singers. They will be performing traditional dances of Hawaii and of the Polynesian islands of Samoa, Tahiti, New Zealand and Samoa. You will also be amazed at the grand finale featuring an exhilarating fire-knife dance!
